Join our dedicated overnight veterinary team as an Overnight Veterinary Technician, where your expertise will be vital in providing exceptional care during the night shift. Current shift needs are Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 10pm to 8am.
Duties
- Monitor and assess hospitalized animals, providing ongoing veterinary critical care as needed
- Assist with animal restraint, catheterization, and sample collection following aseptic techniques
- Perform laboratory tests, prepare samples, and operate diagnostic equipment including X-ray machines
- Handle a variety of animals including dogs, cats, and exotics with gentle animal handling techniques
- Maintain accurate medical records, update patient charts, and document treatments thoroughly
- Ensure proper animal husbandry practices, including feeding, cleaning, and grooming to promote comfort and health
- Conduct routine animal examinations focusing on animal physiology and anatomy knowledge
- Assist in pet grooming and training activities to improve pet behavior and owner satisfaction
- Follow all safety protocols related to veterinary terminology, aseptic technique, and laboratory procedures
Experience
- Previous kennel experience or animal care background preferred
- Veterinary technician experience or certification highly desirable
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and anatomy
- Experience with dog handling, animal restraint, and pet grooming techniques
- Knowledge of veterinary critical care procedures and laboratory testing methods
- Ability to operate X-ray equipment safely and accurately in a clinical setting
