Cheetah Trucking Inc. is seeking an experienced Part-Time Diesel Mechanic to support our growing fleet of Class 8 tractors and trailers. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to earn additional income on weekends while working with a modern, well-maintained fleet.
You'll play a key role in keeping our trucks operating safely and efficiently by performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing mechanical issues, and completing small to medium repairs. We are looking for a dependable, self-motivated mechanic who takes pride in quality workmanship and can respond to occasional weekend service calls when needed.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on Class 8 tractors and trailers
- Conduct diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, air systems, and electrical components
- Complete oil changes, PM services, tire repairs, filter replacements, and DOT inspections
- Repair or replace brakes, suspension components, steering parts, belts, hoses, lighting, HVAC components, and other common wear items
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic equipment and service information
- Perform minor welding or fabrication repairs when necessary
- Maintain accurate service records and communicate repair recommendations to fleet management
- Respond to occasional weekend breakdowns or emergency service calls
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of diesel mechanic experience
- Experience working on Class 8 commercial trucks (Freightliner experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, drivetrains, air brake systems, suspensions, and vehicle electrical systems
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues independently
- Experience using diagnostic software and repair manuals
- Welding or fabrication experience is a plus
- Own basic mechanic tools
- Valid driver's license required
- CDL is a plus but not required
