Traveling Superintendent
Position Overview
The Traveling Site Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all field operations and personnel assigned to company projects. This position provides onsite leadership to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, accurately, and according to project schedules, specifications, budgets, and company expectations.
The Superintendent directly manages project foremen and provides overall supervision of field crews. This role is responsible for holding foremen accountable for crew productivity, accurate time reporting, jobsite organization, safety compliance, quality of work, and effective communication.
The Superintendent serves as the primary onsite representative of the company and works closely with Project Managers, Safety personnel, foremen, subcontractors, customers, and other project personnel.
This is a traveling position that requires regular assignment to jobsites throughout the company’s areas of operation.
Work Responsibilities
Provide overall leadership and direction for daily field operations.
Directly supervise, support, and hold project foremen accountable.
Address performance, conduct, attendance, communication, and accountability concerns involving foremen.
Ensure company leadership is informed of significant field issues.
Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily construction activities.
Monitor the progress of each crew throughout the workday.
Ensure work is properly sequenced to prevent delays and unnecessary downtime.
Maintain an organized, productive, and professional jobsite.
Review foreman performance, crew organization, communication, and productivity.
Confirm that foremen properly document daily activities, manpower, delays, incidents, and completed work.
Ensure foremen are enforcing company policies consistently.
Verify that employee timesheets reflect the actual hours worked.
Compare reported time with daily reports, crew schedules, weather conditions, early releases, travel activity, and other jobsite records.
Manage labor costs in accordance with project budgets and production expectations.
Review project schedules and establish daily and weekly production goals.
Track actual progress against the project schedule.
Coordinate upcoming work, equipment needs, material needs, and staffing requirements.
Promote and enforce the company’s safety policies and expectations.
Documentation Responsibilities
Confirm daily reports include manpower, hours worked, work performed, equipment used, weather conditions, delays, deliveries, visitors, safety matters, and significant events.
Maintain accurate records of project conversations, customer directions, delays, disruptions, and changed conditions.
Ensure jobsite records support payroll, billing, change orders, and project closeout.
Tooling Requirements
Ensure tools and equipment are available when needed.
Experience and Qualifications
Minimum of five years of construction field experience preferred.
Prior experience as a Superintendent, General Foreman, or senior-level Foreman preferred.
Extended assignments away from the employee’s home location may be required.
Must be available to work varying schedules based on project needs.
Regularly stand, walk, climb, bend, reach, and move throughout active construction sites.
Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and jobsite conditions.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documents.
Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to pass applicable background checks, drug testing, and customer-access requirements.
Ability to use electronic timesheets, daily-reporting systems, email, mobile devices, and project-management software.

Pay: $32.00 - $36.00 per hour
