Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with check-in procedures using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Prepare exam rooms by ensuring cleanliness, stock supplies, and assist providers during patient examinations.
- Manage appointment scheduling, cancellations, and follow-up communications efficiently to optimize clinic flow.
- Helpful if candidate can perform basic clinical tasks such as phlebotomy (blood draws)
- Document medical encounters accurately using EMR/EHR systems while maintaining confidentiality of patient records.
- Support administrative functions including answering phones, managing patient inquiries, verifying insurance details, and processing billing or coding using ICD codes.
- Assist with intake procedures for patients in various specialties such as geriatrics, internal medicine, or emergency medicine settings.
- Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations by updating medical documentation and ensuring proper handling of medical records.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a medical office environment with knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
- Hands-on experience in dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics preferred; inpatient or trauma center experience is a plus.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications like phlebotomy or radiography are advantageous.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for managing electronic health records efficiently.
- Strong understanding of physiology, pharmacology basics, ICD coding for diagnoses, and medication administration protocols.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically across diverse populations.
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and professionalism in high-pressure environments such as Level I or Level II trauma centers or PICU settings.
- Knowledge of medical-surgical procedures and experience supporting physicians in various specialties enhances your fit for this role.
