As an Infection Preventionist I, you will help implement, promote, and maintain an effective infection prevention program across patient-facing environments. In this role, you will oversee infection prevention activities for two hospitals, support local teams, and help ensure both locations remain prepared for regulatory requirements. You will conduct infection surveillance and investigative activities, assess communicable disease exposures and environmental risks, and support performance improvement activities related to infection prevention efforts. You will also provide consultation and education to caregivers and contribute to policy development and research initiatives that promote patient safety, reduce infection risks, and support high-quality care.
A caregiver in this role works Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., with travel between Euclid and Mentor hospitals, working one day per week at Mentor Hospital and four days per week at Euclid Hospital.
This position also includes an on-call rotation of one week per quarter.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Conduct surveillance for hospital acquired infections and analyze data.
Generate reports and identify trends.
Provide recommendations for improvement.
Investigate clusters of infections, outbreaks.
Utilize knowledge of microbiology, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of patient care equipment.
Develop and implement infection prevention policies and procedures.
Conduct audits on infection prevention practices.
Provide education and serve as a consultant to various levels of care providers.
Coordinate infection prevention committee meetings and other related activities.
Coordinate the annual infection prevention risk assessment, review, and evaluation of the organization's infection prevention plan.
Report communicable diseases as required by the Ohio Department of Health.
Collaborate with health departments in complying with issues related to outbreaks and control of communicable diseases.
Comply with mandates for state and federal public reporting of hospital acquired infections.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor's degree
Three years of recent relevant clinical experience including nursing, infection prevention, respiratory therapy, or medical technology
OR CBIC Certification and two years of recent relevant clinical experience including nursing, infection prevention, respiratory therapy, or medical technology
Certified in Infection Control - Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc (CBIC), within two years of hire date
Strong communication, clinical assessment, and computer skills (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other related programs)

Minimum Annual Salary: $63,250.00
Maximum Annual Salary: $96,467.50
