We currently operate two locations directly across from one another and share a dedicated, collaborative leadership team:
IPELC – Whipple

Hours: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
IPELC – Sacramento
3000 W. Montrose Ave., Chicago, IL
Hours: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Summer Teacher Position
IPELC is seeking an energetic, dependable, and engaging Summer Teacher to join our team for the summer season. This position may be assigned to either our Twos & Threes Classroom or Pre-K Classroom, depending on enrollment and staffing needs.
This is a full-time, seasonal position that requires consistency, punctuality, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
All candidates must successfully complete:
- DCFS background check clearance
- Three written references
- DCFS medical form requirements
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A warm, patient, and nurturing approach with children
- Strong communication skills with families and coworkers
- The ability to create a safe, engaging, and positive classroom environment
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced childcare setting
- A professional appearance and adherence to company policies
- Fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, or coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- Previous experience working with preschool-aged children in a childcare center, camp, school, or educational setting
- Commitment to professional growth and learning
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain)
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and engage children through play-based learning experiences
- Assist with implementing age-appropriate activities, outdoor play, art projects, and classroom routines
- Support children's social-emotional development and positive behavior guidance
- Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment
- Assist with classroom cleaning, sanitizing, laundry, and daily classroom tasks
- Support children during meals, snacks, restroom routines, and transitions
- Communicate professionally with families and team members
- Follow all DCFS licensing standards and company policies
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to:
- Stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and actively participate with children throughout the day
- Lift up to 50 pounds when necessary
- Engage in outdoor play, movement activities, and classroom events

Pay: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour based on qualifications and experience
