Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations, vital signs, and medical history reviews to establish accurate diagnoses.
- Prescribe medications and treatment regimens in compliance with state regulations and collaborative practice agreements.
- Perform advanced procedures such as suturing, IV insertions, catheterizations, and sterile processing when necessary.
- Manage acute and chronic conditions across specialties including emergency medicine, critical care, geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health, and hospice & palliative medicine.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks to document patient encounters accurately and efficiently.
- Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals across disciplines—nurses, specialists, therapists—to coordinate comprehensive patient care plans.
- Engage in diagnostic evaluation using laboratory testing, medical imaging, sonography, and other tools; interpret ICD-10/ICD-9 coding for billing and documentation purposes.
- Participate in telehealth consultations to extend care access and support remote patient management.
- Assist with discharge planning, case management, utilization review, and follow-up care to ensure optimal recovery outcomes.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and drug enforcement agency (DEA) guidelines for medication prescribing and controlled substances management.
Experience
- Proven clinical experience working within hospital settings such as Level I or Level II trauma centers; ICU or emergency room experience highly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in specialized areas including gastroenterology, infectious disease care, occupational health, or anesthesiology procedures like spinal taps or gastric lavage.
- Hands-on experience with advanced practice provider responsibilities including patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner or Athenahealth for efficient documentation; telehealth experience is a plus.
- Skilled in performing invasive procedures such as venipuncture, catheterization, tube feeding management, and dermal filler injections for aesthetic treatments.
- Strong background in managing diverse patient populations including pediatrics (including neonatal ventilator care), geriatrics (memory care), hospice patients or individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of CPT coding for billing purposes along with ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9) to ensure accurate documentation of diagnoses and treatments.
- Experience working within collaborative practice agreements under state law to prescribe medications safely while adhering to HIPAA standards.
- Critical care experience involving ventilator management or ICU procedures; trauma center exposure enhances readiness for high-pressure environments.
- Experience in Wound Care/Laceration treatment.
- Willing to teach as agreeable.
