American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric PACU position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.
-
Work in a 10-bed Pediatric PeriAnesthesia Unit with an additional 4-bed Pediatric Surgical Observation Unit (PSOU) providing extended recovery care up to 23 hours

Care for pediatric preoperative and postoperative patients with a 1:4 patient ratio

Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM)

Required to work every other weekend

Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays

Floating required within scope of practice as needed

Epic EMR experience required
-
Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted if in-hand by the Wednesday before start date)

Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required
-
Level I Trauma Center experience required
-
Epic EMR charting experience required
-
BSN preferred
-
Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Provide pre- and postoperative care to pediatric surgical patients including airway assessment, IV therapy, and pain management

Support surgical cases including ENT, general, and orthopedic procedures
-
Assist with pediatric-specific care including tonsillectomy recovery and management of pediatric patients
-
Monitor and manage patients receiving general, local, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC)
-
Administer and monitor procedural sedation, IV vasopressors, and emergency medications as needed
-
Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility

Maximum of 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, which must be disclosed prior to submission

Previous UVA Health permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning

External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached

Longer assignment length available through 01/02/2027
