General Summary
Under moderate supervision, responsible for performing a variety of medical assistance, secretarial and administrative tasks to support operation of the department in a professional and efficient manner.
Part-time position: 20 hours a week, nights required.
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. These are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.
- Participates as a member of the team by performing a variety of secretarial and administrative tasks to support departmental operations, to include transcribing/filing; maintaining and updating various documents, correspondence, reports and meeting minutes, following established departmental and hospital guidelines.

Clinical responsibilities include assisting provider during exams and procedures; assisting patients on obtaining vitals and measurements; completing patient history and documentation as instructed by provider; perform point of care testing, phlebotomy, and specimen collection; assists providers with basic routine tests, injections, and procedures; maintain clinical equipment and notify management of issues or concerns; operates equipment in a safe and competent manner; prepares Centering rooms for next session; stocks Centering sites with necessary medical equipment and supplies including immunizations.

Schedules patients for participation in program.

Demonstrates knowledge of hospital information systems pertinent to the daily performance of designated duties.

Provides new patients with various paperwork and orientation to Centering.

Coordinates hospital set-ups for various conference rooms throughout the hospital.

Maintains confidentiality of all department/employee information in accordance with established procedures.

Serves as the liaison to the Centering Program between the Director of the Centering Pregnancy Program and the Director of the Centering Parenting Program, administration at BWMC and the Centering Healthcare Institute for communications, data collection, site approval and re-accreditation

Maintains and renews sites memberships in CHI.

Helps coordinate site approval application and re-accreditations.

Records data for Centering Counts/ Redcap/ and Birth tracks.

Plans, orders, and stocks Centering sites with notebooks/supplies, refreshments, and other materials needed for the pregnancy and parenting group sessions.

Serves as representative on Centering Steering committee and assists in sending out notices and minutes required for CHI accreditation.

Maintains yearly schedule for pregnancy and parenting groups and lets Providers and MA's know of group times/schedule.

Schedules reunions for groups.

Maintains p card report and expenses and turns in monthly.

Serves as co-trainer for facilitators and co-facilitators for the CP program.

Co-Facilitates / Facilitates groups as needed.

Participates in centering update meetings for centering staff.

Functions as a collaborative team member; demonstrated commitment to group goals and teamwork.
Work Experience
Education and Experience
-
High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Current BLS certification or obtained prior to providing direct patient care is required.

Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred.

Two (2) year of administrative/secretarial experience required.

Experience in a clinical practice preferred.

Level 1 and Level 2 centering certified required.

Train the Trainer certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Previous experience using a business office suite, such as Microsoft Office, is preferred.

Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
