Summary: As a Swing Shift Machinist II & III, you will assume a leadership-like role, responsible for producing highly complex aerospace components using advanced lathes and multi-axis CNC machines (3, 4, and 5-axis). You will leverage your expertise to optimize machining processes, mentor junior machinists, and ensure the highest standards of quality and safety. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Without technical supervision, performs the most complex machining of parts and tools, typically on one or more machines, and can be relied upon to handle the one-of-a-kind and most difficult assignments.
- Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and informs programmer or lead person of discrepancies.
- Thoroughly inspects first part run.
- Meets and exceeds job standard times with minimal supervision.
- Recognizes production problems and informs programmer or lead person of issues and provides solutions or remedies to help with process.
- Trainer for machinist level I and II roles and provides help with diagnosing errors and manufacturing techniques.
- Shown and practiced understanding of basic macine language (G and M codes).
- Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications using standard measuring tools.
- Reads and interprets manufacturing/engineering drawings.
- Growing and practiced knowledge of GD&T, ASME Y14.5.
- Maintains a track record of high-quality work with low rework and scrap history.
- Maintains high efficiencies and run rates for given machine.
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment as required.
- Performs miscellaneous duties in the machine shop as directed.
- Follows all safety guidelines established by the company, including proper use of equipment and procedures.
- Utilizes downtime by working on FOD prevention and general shop upkeep. (Minimal to no direction required).
- Other duties as assigned including helping other departments i.e., debur, assembly, washing, shipping, etc.
CNC Operator Machinist Experience and Qualifications:
· Must have at least 5 years experience in operating CNC Mills or Lathes in a manufacturing environment.
· Hard worker that can handle pressure.
· Impeccable attendance.
· Enjoy challenges in a fast paced, changing environment.
· A desire to learn new things and become a better machinist.
· Attention to detail.
· Basic math skills (count, measure, some trig, etc.).
· Lift up to 75lbs and stand for up to 8 hours.
· Forklift certified.
· Ability to operate auxiliary shop equipment.
· Positive attitude, accountable and self-motivated.
