Lead Shop Mechanic
TMI Coatings, LLC is an industrial painting and restoration contractor with over 35 years of experience restoring America’s infrastructure. Since 1985, we have specialized in sandblasting, protective coating, and restoration of tanks, smokestacks, water towers, and other critical structures across the country.
We are currently seeking a Lead Shop Mechanic who takes pride in keeping equipment running safely and efficiently. If you enjoy troubleshooting mechanical issues, working hands-on with specialized equipment, and being part of a close-knit shop team — we’d like to talk with you.
What You'll Do
50% Hands on Maintenance, 25% Team Leadership and Oversight, 25% Administrative Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel air compressors, fleet vehicles, trucks, trailers, and small engine equipment
- Diagnose and repair hydraulics, suspension, steering, and brake systems
- Perform DOT-compliant inspections
- Service diesel air compressors (belts, filters, pulleys, dryers, oil changes, etc.)
- Maintain airless paint sprayer systems (wet cups, strainers, hoses, pumps)
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and ensure job-site readiness
- Assist with shop organization, equipment tracking, and inventory
- Coordinate repair priorities with Operations
What We’re Looking For
- Someone who is a self starter and trustworthy
- 5 + years of Industrial, fleet and/or facility maintenance experience
- Experience with diesel engines, fleet vehicles, compressors, lifts, or similar equipment
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills (electrical knowledge a plus)
- Vocational/technical training or equivalent hands-on experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to obtain DOT inspection certification
Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Overtime available as needed.
