Foundry hires people with no trade experience, pays them from day one, and trains them to be electricians.
Some programs charge thousands of dollars to teach this trade. This one pays you to learn it.
You are hired as a Foundry employee, on payroll from your first day, and you spend eight weeks at our training facility in Abilene learning commercial and industrial electrical work — most of it on the shop floor with tools in hand, in a small group under a lead electrician who has run crews on some of the biggest buildouts in the country. There is no tuition, no fees, and nothing to pay back.
When you finish, you interview with local electrical contractors who are hiring — usually before your last week. Some trainees stay on with Foundry working real electrical jobs; others convert to full-time with a partner contractor.
What you'll learn
- Jobsite safety: OSHA 30, PPE, lockout/tagout, arc flash and shock boundaries
- Electrical theory you use every day: volts, amps, resistance, single- and three-phase
- Bending and hanging EMT and rigid conduit: 90s, offsets, saddles, combination bends
- Wire pulls, terminations, and splices to inspection standard
- Panels, feeders, branch circuits, grounding and bonding
- Reading one-lines, blueprints, and method-of-procedure documents
- Fire alarm, emergency lighting, and low-voltage rough-in
- Mission-critical power: UPS, generators, transfer switches, data-hall distribution
What you'll hold when you finish
- OSHA 30 (construction)
- Scissor and boom lift operator certification
- CPR / First Aid / Stop the Bleed
- Texas TDLR apprentice electrician registration — the state registration that makes your hours count toward a journeyman license
Requirements
- 18 or older
- High school diploma or GED
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Able to meet the physical demands of electrical work: lifting up to 50 lbs, working at height and overhead, and working outdoors in Texas weather, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Willing to complete a background check and drug test
- Reliable transportation to 5201 Texas Ave, Abilene
- No electrical experience, degree, or tools required. We train you.
What we expect
Show up on time, every day. Work safely. Take direction. This is a job with the same standards a contractor would hold you to, and we tell people early and clearly when something is off track. If you've never had a job before, that's fine — bring the attitude and we'll teach the rest.
Benefits
- Paid weekly, every Friday, from your first week
- Over $600 in certifications (OSHA 30, lift, CPR/First Aid) and all PPE at no cost to you
- Job placement support with local contractors, starting before you finish
- Small cohort - 10-15 people, one lead electrician
