Job Title: Deli/Hot Foods/Seafood Associate
Direct Supervisor(s): Deli Manager and/or Lead of the department
Summary of position:
Responsible for handling and possessing knowledge of all deli, hot food, and seafood products.
Essential Functions / Requirements:
Providing quality customer service is an essential component of every position within Dave's Supermarket stores. Each position serves its own group of customers, which may consist of consumers, co-workers, vendors and business associates. As much care should be given to handling our internal “customers”, as the ultimate consumer.
- Provide exceptionally friendly and courteous customer service.
- Adhere to the G.E.T. initiatives.
- Receive, process, prepare, wrap, slice, weigh, mark and package product.
- Mark each product with the date and cook/prepare the product to serve to customers.
- Maintain proper shelf, case and display conditions, to include: stocking, cleaning, straightening, dating and rotating product.
- Maintain proper cooler conditions to include: rotating and organizing case and cleaning
- Maintain proper prep area conditions, to include: cleaning and sanitizing of work surfaces, utensils and equipment.
- Maintain and adhere to safe food handling processes.
- Determine and record temperature of food and food storage areas such as refrigerators and freezers.
- Adhere to all federal, state and local regulations, as they apply to the seafood, hot food, deli area.
- Maintain safe and clean sales floor conditions, to include: sweeping and mopping.
- Work in a cooler environment where there is some discomfort due to cooler temperatures, noise, etc.
- Ability to operate knifes (additional equipment as required).
- Use proper safety equipment and precautions when operating machinery.
- Dress according to company policy and maintain a neat, clean appearance at all times.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by Management.

Experience and Requirements:
High School Diploma (Or GED/High School Equivalence Certificate) required.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the individual must be able to remain in a non-stationary position for 90 percent of the time. The individual needs to frequently move about inside the store and bend to stock and reach items on lower shelves. They are constantly slicing and preparing deli, hot food and seafood products with the use of both hand and power operated machinery. Must be able to continuously reach food products that are located on lower and overhead shelves. Must frequently grasp utensils to prepare the order. The individual must be able to detect the coloring of products throughout the production process. Must be able to exchange accurate information when servicing customers. The individual must frequently lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds.
Work Environment:
The individual that is performing this job may be exposed to temperatures as low as 0 degrees when working in the cooler and freezer for an extended period of time, as needed. They may also be exposed to high temperatures when operating the fryer, combination oven and other equipment.
