J Ross Logistics, Inc. is now hiring full time and part time local FedEx Delivery Route Drivers in the Durham, NC area. Drivers will be operating out of the Durham terminal and will be making deliveries to local residences and businesses in surrounding areas. Our drivers will be operating box trucks, step vans, and cutaway trucks provided by the employer. No CDL required! This job requires hard work, on-the-go decision-making, and the ability to lift heavy packages.
Preference will be given to applicants with previous FedEx or package delivery experience.
We are now accepting applications for full time as well as part-time/ on-call drivers (paid training would occur immediately)!
For part-time/ on call drivers, Weekend Work is available immediately with weekday work being assigned on an on-call basis (as needed).
Terminal Location: 4357 S. Alston Ave. Durham, NC
Salary: Average $160-250/Day
This is a performance based role. The harder and more efficient that you work, the more money you make.
Hours are from 8:00 am through route completion. We need flexible people with flexible hours!
Duties
- Arrive at the Durham FedEx terminal to pick up the vehicle.
- Safely Load and unload light and heavy packages to and from the truck.
- Operate delivery vehicles, including box trucks, step vans, and cutaway trucks, in a safe and responsible manner.
- Navigate assigned routes safely and effectively to ensure timely deliveries while adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Delivering packages to destinations and meeting time-sensitive express deliveries.
- Performing Pickups of packages during assigned pick up windows.
- Scanning and logging packages accurately.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition.
Delivery Driver Requirements
- 1 year of verifiable work-related driving experience in the last 3 years. MILITARY DRIVING, TAXI, UBER, PIZZA DELIVERY, LANDSCAPE DRIVER, ETC IS ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record
- Applicants must be 21 years of age or older
- Must be able to pass a Drug Test (Marijuana included) and DOT Medical / Physical Exam (Employer sponsored)
- Must be willing to undergo a background check
- Physically able to carry packages 100 lbs or more, including up to 150 lbs with a hand truck
- Able to deliver at least 150-190 stops (over 200+ possible during peak season) per day
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience as a FedEx Delivery Driver or in a similar role is highly preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with route driving and local delivery areas is advantageous.
- Experience operating box trucks or vans is a plus.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks associated with moving goods.
- Experience in warehouse settings is beneficial for understanding logistics operations.
