Position: Full-Time Sous Chef
Pelato is a Brooklyn Italian restaurant built on real cooking, real technique, and real work ethic. This is a from-scratch kitchen—we make our food the right way, every day. We’re looking for a Sous Chef who takes pride in consistency, execution, and leading from the line.
This is not a concept kitchen and not a shortcut operation. If you grew up respecting red sauce joints, fresh pasta, long prep lists, and doing things properly even when it’s busy, this may be the right fit.

The ideal candidate has:
- A strong work ethic and reliability
- Consistent work history (stability matters here)
- A genuine desire to cook Italian food
- Italian or Italian-American kitchen experience strongly preferred
- Ordering and inventory experience
- Scheduling experience and understanding of labor
- Verifiable professional references
- Open availability (nights, weekends, holidays as needed)
Responsibilities
- Execute all dishes to Pelato’s standards during service
- Work the line confidently in a high-volume environment
- Assist with ordering, inventory, and food cost control
- Support scheduling and daily kitchen organization
- Uphold cleanliness, food safety, and organization
- Lead by example and help develop the kitchen team
