Key Responsibilities:

Lead the hospital-wide risk management program, identifying and mitigating clinical and operational risks

Oversee incident reporting systems, including near misses, adverse events, and sentinel events

Conduct Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and support performance improvement initiatives

Track and validate corrective action plans

Ensure compliance with: DNV accreditation standards, CMS Conditions of Participation and EMTALA, HIPAA, OSHA, and state regulations
-
Conduct audits, tracers, and compliance assessments
-
Coordinate regulatory reporting and support external surveys and audits
-
Maintain continuous survey readiness
-
Oversee development, review, and maintenance of hospital policies
-
Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices
-
Support implementation and staff adherence across departments
-
Partner with Nursing, Quality, Infection Prevention, and Medical Staff leadership
-
Analyze trends in risk and compliance data to identify improvement opportunities
-
Participate in and support safety, quality, and compliance committees
-
Assist with patient grievances, complaints, and potential claims
-
Coordinate with legal counsel and insurance carriers
-
Educate staff on compliance expectations and regulatory requirements
-
Promote a culture of safety, transparency, and non-punitive reporting
-
Prepare and present reports on risk and compliance trends to leadership
-
Provide recommendations to reduce liability and improve performance
-
Support organizational strategic goals

Qualifications:
Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field required
Licensure/Certifications:
-
Current Mississippi RN or Compact License in good standing.

Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM)Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) preferred.
Experience:
-
3–5 years of experience in healthcare risk management, compliance, quality, or patient safety required
-
Acute care hospital experience required; rural healthcare experience preferred
