Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assisted Living Caregiver to join our team in providing exceptional care to residents in a long-term care setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in assisted living, nursing home, or retirement home environments, with experience in supporting individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities. As an Assisted Living Caregiver, you will play a vital role in promoting residents' well-being by assisting with daily activities, ensuring safety, and fostering a respectful and nurturing environment. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to support health assessments.
- Provide specialized care for residents with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, implementing memory care strategies to enhance quality of life.
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols and document all medication-related activities.
- Support residents during meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring proper nutrition according to individual dietary needs.
- Engage residents in social activities and therapeutic programs to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
- Follow safe patient lifting practices and manual handling procedures to prevent injury for both residents and staff.
- Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms and common areas through routine cleaning and sanitation practices.
- Communicate effectively with residents’ families, healthcare professionals, and team members to ensure coordinated care delivery.
Skills
- Proven experience in assisted living or long-term care environments with a focus on geriatrics or senior care.
- Strong knowledge of assisting with ADLs, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring.
- Experience working with individuals with cognitive disabilities such as dementia or developmental disabilities.
- Familiarity with Alzheimer’s care, memory care techniques, and behavior management strategies.
- Ability to operate standard passenger vehicles safely for resident transportation when required.
- Excellent caregiving skills complemented by compassionate communication and client-centered approach.
- Knowledge of safe patient lifting practices, manual handling procedures, and basic first aid/CPR certification.
- Capable of heavy lifting when necessary to assist residents or manage supplies safely.
- Experience working within residential or community-based care settings such as group homes or retirement communities is desirable.
