Job Title Summary:
The Cancer Training Specialist will oversee all aspects of training programs related to cancer prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and palliation. This includes developing a comprehensive training plan, conducting workshops, and managing logistical aspects such as securing speakers and venues. The Specialist will collaborate with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to implement evidence-based strategies to reduce cancer-related disparities and enhance public health agency involvement in cancer control.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop a training plan in collaboration with the CDC, aligning with CDC Quality Training Standards.
- Create an onboarding system for new CDC Project Officers, ensuring they have a standardized training process.
- Conduct two annual in-person or virtual training workshops for CDC staff, focused on cancer control program management.
- Coordinate the logistics for all training workshops, including identifying and recruiting facilitators, managing venues, and securing necessary resources.
- Organize breakout workshops covering topics such as cancer prevention, screening, survivors' care, disparities, and program sustainability.
- Foster partnerships to strengthen public health involvement in comprehensive cancer control.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of workshops and training activities, collecting feedback to continually improve the program.
- Develop detailed agendas, meeting notes, and action items in collaboration with CDC and associated partners.
- Provide periodic reports to CDC leadership regarding the progress and impact of training activities.
- Position can be remote, with required travel for in-person conferences and team meetings
Qualifications: (Education/Skillset) –
· Master’s in Public Health (MPH) preferred.
· Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Education, or a related field required.
· Cancer Prevention and Control Experience Preferred
· Experience in program management, particularly in public health, cancer control, or addressing health disparities.
· Proven expertise in coordinating large-scale training and development programs.
· Familiarity with CDC Quality Training Standards and evidence-based cancer control interventions.
· Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
· Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
