We are seeking a skilled and motivated Physician Assistant to partner directly with a Spine Physician at OrthoVirginia. This role offers a dynamic blend of clinic care, operating room (OR) support, hospital rounding, and call responsibilities, allowing you to practice at the top of your license while working within a highly specialized spine team.
This position is ideal for an Physician Assistant who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative surgical environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care across the full continuum.

Perform comprehensive physical exams, obtain medical histories, and develop treatment plans

Evaluate and manage patients with spine-related conditions

Order and interpret diagnostic studies

Provide follow-up care and ensure continuity between visits

Educate patients and families on treatment plans and medications

Work alongside the Spine Physician in the OR

Assist with perioperative care and surgical coordination

Ensure all preoperative requirements are completed (clearances, testing, documentation)

Support intraoperative and postoperative patient management within scope

Perform hospital rounds for postoperative and inpatient spine patients
-
Participate in call rotation, addressing urgent patient needs and clinical concerns

Communicate patient updates and clinical findings with the physician

Conduct preoperative assessments to confirm surgical readiness

Identify patients who may not meet outpatient surgical criteria and escalate appropriately

Guide patients and families through the perioperative experience

Complete all documentation, orders, and charts in a timely and accurate manner

Adhere to OrthoVirginia policies, clinical protocols, and quality standards

Maintain a strong focus on patient safety and compliance
-
Active NP or PA license (state-specific requirements apply)

Experience in spine, orthopedics, neurosurgery, or surgical specialty preferred

Ability to work across clinic, hospital, and surgical settings

Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills

Excellent communication and patient education abilities

Ability to work independently while collaborating with a high-performing team

Flexibility to travel between OrthoVirginia locations as needed
