Position Summary
The Retail Floor Manager is responsible for delivering exceptional service while embodying the Core Values of Paws Up Montana. This role is instrumental in creating authentic, personalized experiences for guests and ensuring seamless daily operations within the Wilderness Outpost. Through professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence, the Retail Floor Manager helps create unforgettable Montana experiences that define the Paws Up brand.
Key Responsibilities
- Luxury Retail Leadership: Create a warm, welcoming, and high-end environment for guests, supervising retail team members and managing day-to-day storefront operations to maximize guest satisfaction.
- Inventory & System Management: Oversee inventory levels, update purchase orders within the inventory management system, resolve discrepancies or damages, and manage the meticulous fulfillment and shipping of online and in-store orders.
- Strategic Partnership: Partner directly with the General Manager to communicate with merchants and vendors, assist with retail budgets and business plans, and keep leadership fully informed of operational matters.
- Service Standards & Lounge Support: Deliver the highest level of personalized customer service, educate staff and guests on property merchandise and events, and support the Wilderness Outpost coffee service and guest lounge environments as needed.
- Event & Amenity Coordination: Collaborate with resort stakeholders to design and provide thoughtful, curated retail amenities for VIP groups and special resort events.
- Team Development & Mentorship: Lead, train, and develop seasonal team members, actively investing in their skills to foster a collaborative, professional, and positive working culture.
- Operational Accountability: Maintain a polished, organized, and visually stunning retail environment while demonstrating the ability to multi-task, prioritize business needs, and own assigned tasks independently.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the GM - Wilderness Outpost.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in product-based retail operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Extensive knowledge of world-class hospitality, luxury retail metrics, and high-end guest service management aligned with Forbes Travel Guide 5-Star expectations.
- Strong verbal/written communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills; a positive, humble, and adaptable team-player personality.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Teams); direct experience with Shopify POS/E-commerce platforms is highly preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment while maintaining a neat, professional appearance.
- Valid State Driver’s License.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, and move across the retail floor and outpost grounds for extended periods.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, to accommodate the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry.
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, reach, push, or pull retail inventory boxes, packages, and store displays up to 50 lbs.
