Ambitions is seeking dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide care, supervision, and support to individuals with disabilities in Long Beach, Torrance, and Cerritos. This is an ongoing hiring opportunity due to staffing needs. Shifts are not guaranteed and may vary based on scheduling availability.
Position Overview
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct supervision, training, and support to clients to promote their independence and quality of life. Responsibilities include:
✔ Assisting with daily living activities, self-care, and mobility.
✔ Supporting behavioral self-control, choice-making, and community integration.
✔ Providing specialized training and supervision per the client’s program plan.
✔ Maintaining a clean and safe household environment.
✔ Performing household, grounds maintenance, and basic office management tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Current AIDS Awareness Training.
- Maintain First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Health screening report including TB clearance.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Must pass Livescan background clearance from Community Care Licensing before working in the houses.
- Ability to read and write English for documentation purposes.
- Valid CA driver’s license with current automobile liability insurance.
- Clean driving record (No more than 3 traffic violations in a 3-year period, excluding parking tickets).
- Six months experience providing direct supervision and special services (required to complete 12 additional hours of continuing education within six months of hire).
- Completion of Direct Support Professional (DSP) 1 and 2 competency-based training and exams.
- Successful completion of CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training (including team control and transport positioning) and maintaining current CPI Certification.
- Must provide proof of employment authorization and identity within three days of hire.
