Why does the job exist?
The Behavioral Health Data Manager will:
Manage data and information related to Medicaid claims and encounter reporting, as well as non-Medicaid reporting including block grant funds associated with SAMHSA block grant funds;
Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness, while also ensuring that the data is used effectively to support decision-making, program planning, and reporting.
How does it get done?
The Behavioral Health Data Manager is responsible for:
Working closely with the Division's program staff, contractors, and vendors to ensure that all required data is collected, processed, and reported in a timely and accurate manner;
Developing complex reports based on State and Federal requirements;
Working with complex data sets to identify trends and performance;
Developing reports based on data components from multiple sources and programs;
Developing and implementing data quality control measures;
Overseeing data validation and verification processes;
Working with external stakeholders to ensure that data is collected and reported in accordance with applicable regulations and requirements.
Who are the customers?
New Mexico Behavioral Health Services Division (BHSD) program staff;
Other state agencies, and external stakeholders such as Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MCO) and other healthcare providers.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of experience as it relates to the essential duties of this classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Must obtain a Defensive driving certification.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage with extended periods of sitting.
