Spangler’s Market is hiring 2 full-time and 1 part-time team members to join our Deli Department in Half Moon Bay, CA. We’re looking for friendly, customer-focused individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented grocery environment.
Available Positions:
- 1 Full-Time (flexible availability – days, nights, weekdays, weekends, and holidays)
- 1 Full-Time (night shift: approx. 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM)
- 1 Part-Time (nights & weekends)
As a Deli Clerk, you’ll help prepare and serve fresh deli items, assist customers with questions and recommendations, and ensure the department remains clean, organized, and well-stocked. The ideal candidate has great communication and customer service skills, enjoys multitasking, and takes pride in providing a positive shopping experience.

Job Title: Deli Clerk
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Location: 401 Ave Alhambra, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019
Hourly Range: $18.50-$21.00 per Hour, Based on Experience

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accurately completes customer orders and assists in sales of Deli products
- Answers customer questions, makes suggestions to customers regarding various items for sale in the deli, documents and listens to customer complaints if General Manager or Assistant Manager is unavailable
- Merchandises and promotes deli menu
- Accurately processes customer transitions via the scale equipment
- Assists in rotating stock, learns and follows the basics of food preparation and sanitation
- Possesses ability to multi-task and work other areas
- Maintains clean deli and meat area, sweeps floors in the meat and Deli area, restocks Deli as needed throughout the day
- Organizes stock room
- Follows the opening and closing procedures
- Cleans cases and shelves, mops and sweeps the sales floor
- Operates back room equipment including the pallet jack
- Assists in other duties, as assigned
ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS:
- Troubleshoots equipment breakdowns during shift and reports to the General Manager or Assistant Manager, keeps store in clean, orderly condition during shift. Sees that spills and hazardous conditions are cleaned up
- If a potential shoplifter is identified, uses CB to advise Store Manager
- Protects the safety of self, co-worker's, and Spangler’s Market patrons at all times
- Reports safety-related accidents and incidents at once to supervisor
- Follows all company and safety policies and procedures
- Attends staff meetings as scheduled
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong front-facing customer service skills and effective communication abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team setting.
- Experience in food service or food preparation is a plus but will train.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices a plus but will train.
