American Traveler is hiring a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) with a minimum of 2 years of long-term care experience for a day shift position in Abilene, TX.

Long-term care (LTC) / skilled nursing facility setting
-
Day shift, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
-
No weekend or on-call requirements

13-week contract

Active TX OTA license or compact license required (license required if applicable)

Minimum 2 years of OTA experience in a long-term care setting

DOR (Daily Occupancy Report) experience preferred

Implements specialized therapy plans developed by the supervising OT, guiding patients through therapeutic exercises to improve motor skills and coordination

Provides ADL training including bathing, dressing, and eating using adaptive techniques
-
Instructs patients and families on the use of adaptive equipment such as reachers, mobility aids, and modified utensils
-
Documents patient progress, behavioral changes, and safety concerns and reports findings to the supervising OT

Supports caregivers by training them on home programs and provides emotional encouragement to patients

Handles operational tasks including preparing treatment areas, cleaning equipment, and administrative duties such as scheduling

Candidates previously employed by the facility within the last 12 months may not be eligible for this position
