Welder / Fabricator Foreman
Structural Steel & Custom Aluminum Fabrication
Miller Structural Steel Inc. Is a growing structural steel company looking for an experienced Welder / Fabricator Foreman to join our team. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who is comfortable leading and working with a crew.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in structural steel and aluminum fabrication and welding, with the ability to work in our shop fabricating structural steel and custom aluminum products, as well as perform site welding, fabrication, and installation work on job sites. General construction experience is preferred.
We are looking for an experienced foreman, or a highly skilled welder/fabricator with leadership and construction experience
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise shop and site fabrication crews
- Read and interpret structural steel shop drawings, fabrication details, and building plans
- Lay out, fit, weld, and fabricate structural steel assemblies
- Perform structural steel fabrication and modification work in the field
- Fabricate custom aluminum products and assemblies
- Perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding as required by each project
- Oversee welder/fabricators and ensure work is completed accurately according to plans and specifications
- Coordinate daily work activities and help keep projects on schedule
- Maintain high standards for quality, safety, and productivity
- Inspect completed work and identify issues before they become problems
- Communicate effectively with project managers, superintendents, customers, and crew members
- Help train and develop the skills of less experienced crew members
- Operate shop equipment, tools, lifts, and other fabrication equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Qualifications
- Proven experience in structural steel welding and fabrication. Must hold current welding certifications for structural steel welding (MIG & SMAW).
- Previous foreman or crew-lead experience required
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, detailing, and building plans.
- Strong knowledge of welding, fitting, layout, and fabrication techniques
- Experience with structural steel erection and job-site welding & fabrication
- Experience with aluminum fabrication
- Ability to lead by example while remaining hands-on
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Reliable transportation and a strong work ethic
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in both shop and field environments
