The Law Office of Gregory A. Goodman, P.C. is a plaintiff’s personal injury litigation firm based on Long Island, NY with a 24-year track record of results. We are hiring a Litigation Paralegal to move cases from filing through discovery, motions, and trial preparation.
Position Summary
You will serve as the firm's dedicated litigation paralegal for active and incoming litigated matters. Your core mandate is to keep cases on track procedurally: ensure discovery is complete, responses are timely, demands are served, and deadlines are enforced, including drafting motion practice, when necessary. You will work closely with the managing partner and attorneys, and with the firm's support and back-office teams, who handle administrative tasks, medical records, and client communications. If you are self-directed, litigation-savvy, and want autonomy without micromanagement, this is the role.
- Case Initiation: Draft summonses and complaints, verify defendant entities via the NYS Department of State, purchase index numbers, e-file through NYSCEF, and file affidavits of service.
- Discovery Management: Draft, serve, and track all discovery demands and responses (Discovery and Inspection, 3101(d) expert and fact witness, document demands, authorizations, photographs, statements). Schedule and track IMEs. Ensure no discovery item goes stale or unaddressed.
- Bills of Particulars: Draft, finalize, and serve Verified Bills of Particulars, supplemental and amended BOPs, and responses to defense BOP demands.
- Pleadings Review: Review defendant Answers for affirmative defenses, cross-claims, and admissions. Input into Clio and route for responses.
- Motion Practice: Draft and file motions to compel, discovery-enforcement motions, cross-motions, summary judgment and partial liability papers, and reply papers. Assemble exhibits and file.
- Good Faith and Court Compliance: Draft Good Faith Letters per CPLR and judge requirements. Draft, file, and monitor Preliminary and Compliance Conference orders per individual judge rules. Process court orders and prepare and file Notices of Entry.
- Subpoenas: Draft, serve, and track subpoenas.
- Deadline and Calendar Management: Monitor eCourts/NYSCEF daily. Maintain litigation calendars and track court deadlines, discovery cutoffs, note of issue dates, and compliance conference schedules. Schedule and confirm court appearances. Provide regular status updates on discovery progress and pending motions.
- Depositions: Coordinate and schedule EBTs with opposing counsel, clients, and reporters. Prepare attorneys and clients, and assemble deposition materials.
- Trial Preparation: Assist with trial prep, including CPLR 3122-a certifications, trial binders, witness coordination, and authorizations.

- Strong working knowledge of NYS Courts, CPLR, and NYSCEF/eCourts

- Comfortable using AI tools, or willing to learn: the firm runs AI-assisted drafting and automated workflows, and this role works within them daily
- Proficiency with legal case management software
- Self-directed, able to manage deadlines and caseload with minimal supervision
Preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish, fluent in writing and speech
