You Will:
Team Leadership & Management

The Manager is responsible for leading and developing a team of DBAs, Data Engineers, and ETL Engineers:
-
Lead, mentor, and guide direct reports across Database Administration and Orchestration teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability
-
Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and provide constructive feedback to team members
-
Develop training plans and programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of the Data Platform team
-
Coordinate resource allocation across projects and priorities
-
Partner with the Director to develop and execute the data platform strategy and roadmap
Data Platform Operations

The Manager ensures the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of the data platform:
-
Oversee the operation and maintenance of database systems (SQL Server, AlloyDB, BigQuery) ensuring high availability and performance
-
Manage data pipeline orchestration (Airflow/Cloud Composer, Airbyte, SSIS, dbt, Datastream) ensuring timely and accurate data delivery

Ensure compliance with data governance policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements (HIPAA, SOC2)

Implement monitoring, alerting, and incident response procedures for data platform services
-
Manage vendor and partner relationships for data platform tools and services
Cloud Migration & Modernization

The Manager drives the migration to Google Cloud Platform:
-
Lead the migration of on-premises EDW workloads to GCP BigQuery
-
Ensure the implementation of the Medallion Architecture (Bronze-Silver-Gold) across cloud and hybrid environments
-
Optimize cloud costs and implement FinOps practices for data platform services
-
Collaborate with partner Data Architect(s) to ensure cloud architecture aligns with enterprise standards

Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance platform capabilities
Stakeholder Collaboration

The Manager partners with cross-functional teams to deliver data platform value:

Work closely with BI Team Lead and Data Governance to ensure data is available, accessible, and trusted for analytics consumption

Partner with AI & Advanced Analytics team to provide high-quality, governed datasets for AI/ML workloads
-
Collaborate with Infrastructure and Security teams to ensure platform compliance and performance
-
Provide regular updates to leadership on platform status, projects, and operational metrics

To Ensure Success in This Role, You Must Have:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
-
7+ years of experience in data engineering, including extensive experience with ETL, data warehousing, and database administration
-
3+ years of experience managing or leading a team of data engineers, DBAs, or related roles
-
Strong understanding of database systems (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, BigQuery), SQL, and programming languages (Python, R)

Experience with cloud data platforms, preferably GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Composer, Pub/Sub, Airbyte, dbt)

Knowledge of data management best practices, data integration patterns, and data quality principles
-
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Pay Range: $110,000.00 – $140,000.00 per year
