JOB SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of this position is to perform a variety of food service functions in order to feed residents while maintaining clean and sanitary conditions of food service areas, facilities, and equipment.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for understanding and consistently following the principles of the Happy to Oblige (H to O) program.

Assist cook by preparing and portioning food items as instructed.

Set up trays and deliver meals to residents.

Clean and maintain kitchen and food preparation equipment.
-
Stock and store food items.
-
Retrieve dishes and utensils following meals.
-
Scrape, rack and place soiled dishes in dish machine.
-
Sort, stack and store clean dishes.
-
Maintain cleanliness of dish machine room and dietary area.
-
Fill, clean and empty dish machine.
-
Cooperate and work with staff.
-
Pour and cover beverages.
-
Attend and stir foods during cooking process to prevent burning.
-
Carry out garbage.
-
Relieve cook of duties such as preparing fruits and vegetables and making toast and beverages.

Follow safety regulations and precautions at all times.
-
Assist in inventory and storing of all in-coming food and supplies.
-
Assist in food preparation for special meals, parties, etc.

Participate in in-service program of the facility.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
EQUIPMENT USED: Mixer, blender, dish washer, dishes, utensils, coffee machine, milk
machine, and trays.

Frequently deals with hot and humid environment, noise, wetness, odors, and chemicals.

Rarely deals with cold environment, fumes, and heights.

Employees may also be required to wear additional items as part of their uniform (ie: non-skid or slip resistant shoes)

Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
-
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
-
Meets requirements established by CMS and state regulatory agencies, including:
-
Certified ServSafe Food Handler
-
Required attendance of in-services, online training, and any other education required to maintain certification.
-
1 year of food service experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
-
Ability to operate dish machine, handle cleaning supplies and equipment, sort, stack, and store clean dishes.
-
Knowledge of sanitary requirements, rules and regulations.
-
Computer literacy is a must.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Frequently bends/stoops, squats, reaches above the shoulders, and kneels.

Crawls, climbs ad crouches occasionally.
-
Occasionally lifts and/or carriers up to 25 pounds.

Frequently pushes/pulls, lifts and carries up to 10 pounds.

Continuously requires mobility throughout the work day.

Possess eye-hand coordination.

Ability to read and write in English.
