POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead on-site execution of data center construction projects in Raleigh. This role is critical to the successful delivery of complex, fast-paced EPC builds, with responsibility for field operations, schedule adherence, subcontractor coordination, safety compliance, and overall site performance.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in large-scale industrial or commercial construction, with strong exposure to electrical and MEP-intensive scopes, ideally within mission-critical, data center, or critical infrastructure environments. This role requires strong leadership, a hands-on mindset, and the ability to manage multiple trades and workflows simultaneously in a dynamic site environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Site Management & Execution
- Supervise all on-site construction activities from mobilization to closeout.
- Direct and coordinate subcontractors, trades, and field personnel to maintain productivity and quality.
- Ensure work is performed according to approved drawings, specs, and safety standards.
- Proactively address site issues, change conditions, and schedule impacts in real-time.
Scheduling & Coordination
- Maintain daily logs, site reports, and project schedule updates.
- Coordinate inspections, deliveries, and utility connections with appropriate authorities.
- Coordinate electrical and MEP trade sequencing, inspections, energization milestones, commissioning activities, and utility/interface requirements.
- Work closely with the Project Manager to align field progress with project milestones.
Health & Safety
- Enforce company and regulatory safety policies on-site at all times.
- Lead daily toolbox talks and ensure all workers comply with PPE and site safety procedures.
- Report and document any incidents or near-misses immediately.
Quality Control
- Monitor workmanship and ensure construction meets high standards and contract documents.
- Review and approve mock-ups, materials, and installations in coordination with consultants.
- Support punch list walkthroughs and final quality checks.
Team Leadership
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professionalism on-site.
- Mentor and support junior staff, laborers, and site coordinators.
- Serve as the face of DEC to clients, consultants, and vendors at the site level.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial or industrial construction.
- Data center, critical infrastructure, or MEP-heavy project experience is strongly preferred, with particular emphasis on electrical systems, power distribution, controls, commissioning coordination, and trade sequencing.
- Experience working within EPC or design-build environments is an asset.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of site construction practices, safety codes, and quality control.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical construction activities, including power distribution, switchgear, generators/UPS, grounding, cable pathways, lighting, controls, testing, commissioning coordination, and coordination with mechanical and low-voltage trades.
- Proficient in field reporting tools and project software, including Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Certifications Preferred
- OSHA 30 or equivalent safety certification.
- WHMIS and First Aid/CPR.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various project sites.
