Optician / Ophthalmic Technician / Optical Lab Technician
Village Eye Care is seeking a versatile, patient-focused team member to join our practice in a unique tri-role position. This cross-trained role combines patient care, optical dispensing, and laboratory operations, providing a rewarding opportunity to develop expertise across all aspects of eye care.
Responsibilities
Ophthalmic Technician Duties
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during patient visits
- Obtain patient histories and document findings accurately
- Perform diagnostic testing, including visual acuity, auto-refraction, retinal imaging, OCT, and visual fields
- Educate patients on procedures, treatment plans, and eye health
- Maintain clinical equipment and exam rooms
Optician Duties
- Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses that meet their visual and lifestyle needs
- Recommend lens designs, coatings, and specialty products
- Measure and fit eyewear accurately
- Adjust, repair, and troubleshoot eyeglasses
- Verify prescriptions and ensure eyewear quality standards
- Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the optical sales experience
Optical Lab Technician Duties
- Edge, mount, inspect, and finish ophthalmic lenses
- Verify lens accuracy and quality before dispensing
- Perform frame repairs and modifications
- Manage laboratory equipment maintenance
- Track lens orders and maintain inventory
- Ensure efficient turnaround times and quality control
Qualifications
- Experience as an optician, ophthalmic technician, optical lab technician, or related healthcare role preferred
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn and cross-train across all departments
- ABO, CPO, or other optical/ophthalmic certifications are a plus
