Duties
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, UltiPro, Kronos, Ceridian, or PeopleSoft, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Reconcile payroll data through detailed analysis of general ledger accounts, accounts payable/receivable, and benefits administration records
- Maintain compliance with tax regulations by preparing and filing payroll tax reports and managing tax-related documentation
- Oversee benefits administration processes related to payroll deductions, retirement plans, and health insurance contributions
- Perform account reconciliation tasks including journal entries, double entry bookkeeping, and general ledger reconciliation to ensure financial accuracy
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams on payroll-related inquiries, audits, and reporting requirements
- Utilize technical accounting knowledge to handle complex payroll issues involving governmental accounting standards or non-profit accounting practices
Skills
- Proficiency in payroll management software such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, UltiPro, Kronos or Ceridian is essential
- Strong understanding of accounting principles including debits & credits, journal entries, and account reconciliation
- Experience with various accounting software like QuickBooks or similar financial tools for bookkeeping purposes
- Knowledge of tax regulations related to payroll processing and benefits administration
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy (10 key typing) and attention to detail
- Ability to analyze financial data effectively using analysis skills to identify discrepancies or process improvements
- Familiarity with human resources systems (HRIS) such as PeopleSoft or UltiPro for seamless integration of employee data
- Experience working within governmental or non-profit accounting frameworks is a plus
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks including accounts payable/receivable and general ledger accounting
