Davis Hill Development (DHD) is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our Project Management and Operations team. Ideally, this person will be based in our Nashville, TN office on a hybrid schedule. The ideal applicant will be a hardworking, ambitious, self-motivated, and creative problem solver who can help target and develop solar power projects in multiple geographies.As an Assistant Solar Project Manager at DHD, you will play a key role in supporting the successful planning and execution of renewable energy projects. Working closely with Senior Project Manager and cross-functional teams, you will help coordinate activities from early-stage development through construction, with a focus on project tracking, documentation, permitting support, and interconnection processes. The Assistant Project Manager will support the DHD Project management team and will report directly to the Senior Project Manager. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset to ensure projects remain on schedule, within scope, and aligned across stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the full project lifecycle, from development through construction and commissioning
- Support project managers in day-to-day coordination of active projects
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date project documentation, including schedules, trackers, and reporting logs
- Assist in updating project schedules and tracking key milestones from development through construction and closeout
- Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, and document notes and action items
- Track project deliverables, deadlines, and follow-ups to ensure timely completion
- Assist with permitting and interconnection documentation preparation and submissions
- Organize and maintain project files, contracts, and correspondence across internal systems
- Support vendor and contractor coordination, including onboarding documentation and communications
- Assist with contractor/vendor coordination and procurement processes
- Prepare regular status reports and assist with KPI tracking
- Facilitate communication between internal teams (engineering, permitting, finance, construction)
- Support compliance tracking with project requirements and regulatory obligations
- Prepare materials for internal and external stakeholder meetings and communications
- Support compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and project requirements
- Contribute to process improvements and team best practices.
- The role will be expected to travel up to 10% of their time for industry conferences and quarterly meetings.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- 1–2 years of experience in the solar or renewable energy industry, preferably supporting or managing solar project installations (residential, commercial, or utility-scale)
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, environmental science/studies, or a related field
- Foundational understanding of solar technologies, terminology, and project lifecycle processes
- Basic knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, and project modeling
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret design, development, and construction documents, specifications, and bids
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and a sense of ownership over work products
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and ensure thorough project execution
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify risks and support mitigation strategies in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
- Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., Smartsheet, Zoho, or similar platforms)
- Interest in systems development, process improvement, and scalable project execution
- Passion for renewable energy and clean technology
- Experience with PV design software is a plus (Helioscope, PVsyst)
- Knowledge of renewable energy policies, incentives, and financial models is a plus

Compensation
$50,000 - $70,000
