Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide early intervention services for children ages 2 to 6 years in Virginia. Services focus on promoting communication and language development through family-centered, play-based therapy. Positions are available for both part-time and full-time schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
● Conduct speech-language evaluations using developmentally appropriate tools
● Develop and implement Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and transition plans in partnership with families and interdisciplinary teams
● Deliver speech-language therapy targeting articulation, receptive/expressive language, pragmatic communication, and early literacy
● Collaborate with caregivers, educators, and professionals (OTs, PTs, developmental specialists) to support generalization of skills
● Use a coaching model to help caregivers integrate communication strategies into daily routines
● Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with Virginia early intervention guidelines
● Participate in family consultations, case meetings, and professional development
Qualifications:
● Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
● Active Virginia license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist (through the Virginia Department of Health Professions)
● Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred (CFY candidates with VA provisional license will be considered)
● Experience working with children ages 2–6 in early intervention, preschool, or pediatric therapy settings
● Strong interpersonal, documentation, and collaboration skills
● Pass all required background checks and health screenings per Virginia early childhood program regulations
Virginia-Specific Requirements:
● Hold a valid Virginia SLP license
● CFY applicants must have a provisional VA license and meet supervision requirements
● Complete a minimum of 10 CE hours annually for license renewal
● Familiarity with Virginia’s IDEA Part C and B regulations related to early intervention services
Preferred Skills:
● Experience with AAC, early social communication, and play-based therapeutic approaches
● Knowledge of neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed care
● Confidence in coaching and educating parents and caregivers
