We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Santa Ana. In this role, you will be responsible for operating, programming, and maintaining CNC machines, including lathes and milling machines, to produce precision components that meet strict quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency in CNC programming and setup, and a thorough understanding of blueprint reading and measurement techniques. Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC machining equipment such as CNC lathes and milling machines, primarily utilizing Fanuc controls.
- Develop and modify CNC programs using CAM programming software; interpret technical drawings and blueprints to ensure accurate part production.
- Perform precise measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify dimensional accuracy.
- Conduct routine maintenance, tool changes, and troubleshooting on CNC machinery to optimize performance and minimize downtime.
- Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles to ensure parts meet specified tolerances.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, tooling, and welding equipment as needed for assembly or finishing processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety standards; operate forklifts when necessary for material handling.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying process improvements and reducing waste.
- Assist with quality control procedures by inspecting parts using precision measuring instruments and ensuring adherence to specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on tooling design, fixture setup, and process optimization.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a CNC Machinist with proficiency in CNC programming (including CAM software) and operation.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of machining processes, tooling selection, and maintenance procedures.
- Skilled in reading blueprints and technical drawings with an understanding of GD&T standards.
- Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM), plastics injection molding processes, and welding is advantageous.
- Experience working with CNC controls such as Fanuc or similar systems.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines.
- Basic math skills necessary for measurements, calculations, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency and waste reduction.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and other manufacturing equipment safely.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
