Hughes Fire Equipment, Inc has an opening for a Mobile Heavy Duty Mechanic. This position involves performing repair by traveling to assigned site locations. The employee will troubleshoot problems specializing in emergency equipment, while conducting themselves professionally in stressful situations. Location: Service area is Montana
Responsibilities of a Mobile Heavy Equipment Mechanic:
- Performs routine maintenance and repairs on fire and EMS apparatus and equipment
- Works with chassis, electrical, multiplex, hydraulic, water pumps, foam, and aerial systems, with an emphasis on electrical.
- Works in the shop and travels to customer locations
- Minor fabrication abilities
- Documents all repairs in business management system
- Communicates with manufacturers via email and phone to troubleshoot systems
- Communicates with customers and end users to resolve problems
- Works as part of a team to solve complex technical problems.
- Maintain a safe work environment
Requirements of a Mobile Heavy Equipment Mechanic:
- High School Diploma or equivalent education
- Previous experience with basic hand tools
- Requires CDL (or ability to obtain) in order to test drive or transport customer vehicles
- Experience within a manufacturing or operational environment, preferred
- Two or more years of mechanical and assembly experience, preferred
- Technical or Associate’s degree in a relevant Technician or Technology program or equivalent education and/or mechanical training, preferred.
