POSITION OVERVIEW
The Associate Designer supports Lead Designers on full-service luxury residential and commercial interior design projects, including renovation and new construction. This role is responsible for producing drawings, documentation, renderings, and presentation materials that translate design concepts into clear, buildable direction.
The Associate Designer works directly with homeowners, business owners, and developer/stakeholder teams through the Lead Designer, helping ensure decisions are documented and progress is maintained. They collaborate closely with the Design Director and Principal Designer to ensure aesthetic and technical consistency across the studio’s work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design Development & Concept Support
- Support the development of spatial layouts, palettes, finish selections, and furnishing concepts based on Lead Designer direction.
- Prepare concept boards, material boards, and visual presentation decks that clearly communicate design intent.
- Assist in custom millwork and furniture detailing, translating sketches or verbal direction into technical drawings.
Technical Execution
- Produce and maintain finish schedules, furnishing specifications, hardware schedules, and fixture documentation.
- Create renderings and visualization materials that convey scale, proportion, materials, and lighting as accurately as possible.
- Maintain drawing standards and organization across all project files.
Client Presentation Preparation & Follow-Through
- Prepare all presentation documents, renderings, boards, and spec sheets in studio-approved branded formats.
- Gather and organize physical samples (finishes, textiles, hardware, stone, paint, etc.) ensuring they are labeled and displayed logically to support clear client decision-making.
- Set up presentation environments, including sample layout, screen display preparation, room staging, and ensuring all materials are clean and polished.
- Attend client presentations to assist with visual explanation and flow.
- Take detailed notes on decisions, revisions, and pending approvals.
- Prepare and share post-meeting summaries with the internal team and update the CRM / Notion project system to reflect decisions and next steps.
Documentation for Renovation & New Construction
- Produce accurate drawings, elevations, and schedules for both renovation and new build project types.
- Update plans and documents when conditions change or decisions evolve.
- Coordinate details with architects, contractors, and fabricators through clear, concise documentation.
Trade Partner & Site Coordination Support
- Attend site visits to take measurements, document progress, and record field conditions.
- Prepare drawing redlines and updated schedules to support construction progress.
- Communicate with vendors and suppliers to confirm materials and samples.
Installation & Styling Support
- Support installation days with layout, styling, unpacking and on-site coordination.
- Ensure selections and arrangements reflect the intended design vision.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree in interior design or related field
- Minimum 3 years of related work experience
- Portfolio of design work
- Project management experience, preferred
- Comfortable working collaboratively while also managing individual workloads
- Expert in SketchUp, AutoCAD, Enscape/V-Ray and Adobe Creative Cloud
- Knowledge in Notion, Fohlio and Miro a plus
- Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple projects and adjust work accordingly
- Possess strong verbal, written and visual communication skills
- Ability to self-manage and demonstrate professional maturity
- Ability to be productive working from home, a coffee shop, a jobsite, etc.
- Ability to be flexible with work hours - some days starting early, some days starting late, and ability to work weekends, if needed

Pay: $50,000.00 - $54,000.00 per year
