Unlike traditional façade contractors, we provide complete façade engineering and construction services, including façade design coordination, shop drawings, detailed section drawings, production drawings, material procurement, fabrication coordination, and installation through our experienced in-house field team. As our portfolio continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Senior Façade Engineer to join our engineering team.
Position Summary
The Senior Façade Engineer will lead the technical engineering and detailing of façade systems from design development through fabrication and installation. The successful candidate must possess extensive experience preparing façade shop drawings, developing complex section details, reviewing production drawings, and coordinating with architects, consultants, manufacturers, and installation teams.
This position requires a highly detail-oriented engineer with strong technical knowledge of curtain wall systems, windows, aluminum panels, GFRC, stone cladding, waterproofing, and structural connections.
Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English is required, as the role involves daily communication with overseas suppliers and fabrication facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead façade engineering and detailing for multiple projects simultaneously.
- Prepare, review, and manage façade shop drawings and construction documentation.
- Develop detailed façade section drawings for curtain walls, window systems, cladding, waterproofing, insulation, and structural interfaces.
- Review architectural drawings and identify constructability issues.
- Coordinate façade engineering with architects, structural engineers, consultants, and project managers.
- Produce accurate fabrication-ready shop drawings.
- Review and approve production drawings prior to fabrication.
- Coordinate closely with overseas manufacturers regarding production details and technical requirements.
- Resolve engineering issues during fabrication and installation.
- Provide technical support to the company's in-house installation team.
- Attend coordination meetings and assist with field engineering when required.
- Review RFIs, submittals, mockups, and material samples.
- Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, NYC Building Code, and applicable industry standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and CAD/BIM detailers.
- Improve internal drawing standards and engineering procedures.
Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
● Minimum 10 years of façade engineering experience.
● Extensive experience with commercial, high-rise, and mixed-use building façade systems.
● Expert knowledge of:
o Curtain wall systems
o Storefront systems
o Window wall systems
o Unitized curtain walls
o Aluminum composite panels (ACP)
o Aluminum plate panels
o Stone cladding
o GFRC and precast systems
o Waterproofing and air barrier systems
● Advanced experience preparing:
o Shop drawings
o Section details
o Fabrication drawings
o Production drawings
o Installation drawings
● Strong understanding of façade anchorage, tolerances, thermal movement, structural loading, and waterproofing details.
● Ability to identify design conflicts and provide engineering solutions.
● Experience coordinating with fabrication facilities and production teams.
● Experience supporting field installation and resolving site issues.
● Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
● Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English (required).
