Special Education Teacher (SPED) – Multiple Openings

These positions support elementary, middle school, and high school students across Mild Intellectual Disability (ID) and Moderate Intellectual Disability (ID) programs.

Available Positions Mild Intellectual Disability (ID)
- Students with higher levels of independence
- Opportunities for inclusion and general education integration
- Focus on academic achievement, life skills, and functional skill development
- Support students in accessing grade-level curriculum with appropriate accommodations and modifications
Moderate Intellectual Disability (ID)
- Emphasis on independence, functional academics, and transition planning
- Increased support for daily living and vocational readiness skills
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to support individualized student goals
- Opportunities to facilitate inclusion and general education support when appropriate
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide direct instruction tailored to student needs and ability levels
- Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to support varying levels of independence
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
- Track student progress and maintain compliance documentation
- Support academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional skill development
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student success planning
- Create positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environments
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or related field
- Current Teaching License
- Current Missouri Special Education Teaching Certification
- Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
