Under the direction of the District Executive Director, the Housekeeper will ensure that the facility is maintained, clean, sanitary, safe, operational, attractive, and welcoming to members and guests as well as outside areas. This position is a key team member who contributes to the overall member experience and provides positive customer service.
He/she will sweep, mop, dust, and clean the facility daily to meet the members' needs and leadership's expectations. Cleans and maintains floors, carpets, walls, windows, tiled areas, showers, restrooms, and other facility surfaces. Regularly restocks supplies, such as soap, paper towels, and empties waste. Performs all housekeeping duties. Reports on building problems. Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies. Use preventative maintenance and cleaning schedules to keep the equipment and facility at peak performance.
He/she will coordinate with a team that includes housekeeping, Preschool, Membership, maintenance, and other YMCA staff to meet members' needs. In addition to housekeeping, this person will set up/take down for events, clean fitness equipment, and interact with members.
One year of experience in housekeeping work. Knowledge of cleaning products and equipment. Basic knowledge of maintenance is helpful. Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds. Ability to use equipment and chemicals in a prescribed manner, including reading labels, MSDS information sheets, and instructions. Ability to identify and resolve potential safety and security problems. Ability to handle demanding individuals calmly and courteously.
This is part time position 5pm-8pm, five days a week.
REQUIREMENTS
Physical Demands and Dexterity

Move and position self to reach high and low items, including bending, stooping, kneeling, using a step stool, and crouching to clean various surfaces, such as floors, fixtures, and furniture.

Transport materials and equipment up to a specified weight (e.g., 20–50 pounds). This includes pushing and pulling cleaning carts, lifting trash, and carrying towels and supplies.

Operate and control cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mops, water pressure cleaners, and buffers, and use small tools that require manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Work with hands and fingers to handle and feel objects, tools, and controls for tasks such as dusting, wiping surfaces, and organizing items.
Mobility and Stamina

Constantly move about to clean and maintain rooms, hallways, and common areas.

Remain in a stationary position for extended periods, such as while scrubbing a surface, and alternate positions to avoid fatigue.

Ascend and descend stairs or ramps, and occasionally use a stepladder to reach elevated areas, such as light fixtures or blinds.
Working Conditions and Safety

Adhere to all company and OSHA safety guidelines and security policies, including the proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment, while using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Work with potential exposure to cleaning chemicals, moving mechanical parts, and bloodborne pathogens.

Work with environmental factors such as noise, people using YMCA amenities, and various floor surfaces, which can be wet or slippery.

Report maintenance issues, lost items, and safety hazards to management promptly.
