Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status exams, and diagnostic assessments utilizing EMR systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications with precision, adhering to best practices in psychopharmacology and medication management protocols.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans, discharge planning, and case management for patients with complex mental health needs.
- Provide crisis intervention and triage services for urgent psychiatric concerns, ensuring timely and effective responses in emergency room or inpatient settings.
- Utilize telehealth experience to deliver accessible mental health services remotely, maintaining HIPAA compliance and high-quality patient care standards.
- Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and wellness strategies to promote recovery and resilience.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly within medical records systems like Cerner or Athenahealth, ensuring accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Skills
- Proven experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those in assisted living or nursing home environments.
- Strong knowledge of psychiatric medications, psychopharmacology principles, and CPT coding for billing purposes.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks to streamline documentation and patient tracking.
- Critical care experience or hospital medicine background is highly desirable for managing acute psychiatric crises within Level I Trauma Centers or ICU settings.
- Skilled in behavioral health assessment techniques, trauma-informed care approaches, and acute pain management strategies.
- Ability to perform clinical procedures such as venipuncture, injection administration, suturing, or basic life support when necessary.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and documentation aligned with NCQA standards.
