We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to assist and care for individuals with disabilities and special needs. Our organization is committed to providing respectful support that promotes independence and enhances overall well-being.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Training and assisting with personal care routines such as hygiene, bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Assisting with daily living activities, including meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, laundry, and other household tasks
- Providing hands-on assistance, when needed, with activities of daily living when needed while encouraging independence
- Assisting with mobility and safely navigating the home and community
- Providing assistance with transfers, positioning, and other mobility-related needs when required
- Supporting individuals who may have limited mobility or physical limitations with completing everyday tasks safely
- Maintaining awareness of fall risks and other safety concerns and providing appropriate assistance
- Planning and accompanying individuals to community activities to foster social engagement and community participation
- Providing transportation to appointments and community outings
- Communicating effectively with healthcare professionals, family members, and other members of the individual's support team
- Observing and reporting changes or concerns related to an individual's health, mobility, safety, or overall well-being
- Offering emotional support and companionship while respecting individual choices and promoting independence
Qualifications:
- 1+ year of experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs
- Experience providing hands-on assistance with activities of daily living and individuals with physical or mobility limitations is preferred
- Ability to safely provide physical assistance and mobility support when required
- Knowledge of safe transfer techniques, mobility assistance, and fall prevention is preferred
- Compassionate, patient, dependable, and respectful demeanor
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of APD Required Training: Zero Tolerance, Direct Care Core Competencies, and Requirements for All Waiver Providers (willing to obtain training prior to hire)
