Job OverviewThe Assistant Director helps oversee the day-to-day operations of the facility, ensures strict compliance with state licensing regulations, and steps in to lead the center in the Director's absence. This role splits time between administrative management, curriculum oversight, and hands-on instructional support inside the classrooms.
Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain full compliance with state and local childcare licensing, health, and safety regulations.
- Director Absence: Assume full responsibility for managing the facility when the Center Director is off-site.
- Safety Verification: Conduct routine safety checks of classrooms, common buildings, and outdoor playgrounds.
- Drill Execution: Schedule and document mandatory emergency, fire, and health safety drills.
- Record Management: Ensure student enrollment forms, medical records, and staff personnel files remain current and audit-ready.
Staff Leadership & Development
- Staff Scheduling: Coordinate employee shift schedules to maintain required teacher-to-child ratios within budget guidelines.
- Mentorship & Training: Onboard new hires, mentor teaching staff, and assist educators in fulfilling annual professional development hours.
- Performance Reviews: Conduct classroom observations and deliver real-time performance feedback to staff.
- Meeting Facilitation: Assist in organizing and executing monthly staff development meetings.
Curriculum & Classroom Support
- Curriculum Monitoring: Review classroom lesson plans to verify alignment with early education frameworks and age-appropriate milestones.
- In-Ratio Support: Provide direct, hands-on classroom teaching support to cover employee breaks, transitions, or sudden absences.
- Behavior Guidance: Coach teachers on classroom management and positive behavioral guidance strategies.
Family & Community Engagement
- Customer Service: Greet families daily, answer operational inquiries, and address parent concerns promptly.
- Facility Tours: Conduct comprehensive facility tours for prospective families to showcase the center's values and drive enrollment.
- Event Planning: Coordinate community events, parent-teacher conferences, and seasonal open houses.
Pay: $51,653.87 - $62,206.81 per year
