Administers and oversees the operation of a major section in a branch library. Interprets and explains library policies/procedures to the public and staff; creates/approves classes and activities for adults; provides research services to members; resolves member complaints/problems; monitors materials budget/selection; recommends the hiring, promotion, and termination of staff; trains and directs professional/paraprofessional Library System personnel; supervises the use of online and electronic resources utilized for public computer classes; participates in long-range planning and committee work.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess the following:
Master’s Degree in Library Science accredited by the American Library Association (ALA); minimum of two (2) years of professional library experience, including one (1) year of supervisory or administrative responsibilities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience conducting oral presentations/speaking in public,
- Experience using online/electronic library resources, and
- Bi/trilingual (English/Spanish/Creole).
