Braille Transcriptionist
CBS Therapy is currently seeking a Braille Transcriptionist for a Full-Time placement!

Basic Functions
- Transcribe print educational materials into Braille
- Collaborate with Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs)
- Ensure equal curriculum access for blind and low-vision students
Requirements
- Library of Congress (LOC) Braille Transcriber Certification or Unified English Braille (UEB) Certification
- Proficiency with Braille translation software and embossing equipment
Responsibilities
- Convert print textbooks, worksheets, tests, and classroom handouts into accurate Braille formats
- Utilize specialized braille translation software and operate embossers to produce high-quality tactile and written materials
- Review and proofread all transcribed text thoroughly to ensure accuracy, formatting consistency, and readability
- Meet regularly with special education staff, TVIs, and general education teachers to coordinate material timelines and address specific student needs
- Collaborate with the educational team to ensure adapted materials align with the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and academic curriculum
- Maintain organized production schedules to ensure timely delivery of accessible materials to the classroom setting
