Coppersmith Recruitment, on behalf of a client, are seeking an energetic, technically sharp Engineering Supervisor to oversee engineering and facility operations within their Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) manufacturing site in Chantilly, VA. In this role, you will lead a talented team, drive equipment reliability, manage critical utilities, and oversee capital projects—all while being mentored for long-term career growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Leadership: Manage and mentor a team supporting OSD manufacturing, packaging, utilities, and facility systems. Provide technical direction for troubleshooting and equipment optimization.
- OSD Equipment & Process Support: Oversee the installation, qualification, preventive maintenance (PM), and calibration of core OSD equipment (granulators, fluid bed dryers, tablet presses, capsule fillers, coaters, blenders, and packaging lines).
- Facility & Utilities Management: Oversee operations for HVAC systems, cleanrooms, compressed air, chilled water, boilers, and vacuum systems, ensuring environmental controls meet strict cGMP requirements.
- Compliance & Quality: Drive root-cause investigations, implement CAPAs, and maintain engineering documentation, change controls, and validation protocols in compliance with FDA, EU, and internal quality standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion Lean, Six Sigma, or reliability engineering methodologies to reduce downtime, enhance process efficiency, and identify automation opportunities.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience: Strong engineering background within a pharmaceutical Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) manufacturing environment.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of OSD process equipment, PM/calibration schedules, and facility engineering (HVAC, clean utilities, and environmental controls).
- Leadership Ready: Proven experience either leading projects, mentoring junior engineers, or managing direct reports, with a strong desire to step into a true leadership role.
- Regulatory Savvy: Solid understanding of cGMP, validation, OSHA, and cleanroom regulatory requirements.
