The Maintenance Worker at Seven Holy Founders Catholic Church is responsible for maintaining parish and school buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for parishioners, students, staff, and visitors. This position performs a variety of maintenance tasks, including semi-skilled carpentry, basic plumbing and electrical work, painting, groundskeeping, and general repairs.
Job Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain the PSR building, including mopping and vacuuming floors, cleaning restrooms, and washing windows following weekly PSR meetings
- Maintain parish grounds by mowing, edging, watering, weeding, pruning, and raking on a seasonal basis
- Perform minor maintenance and repairs in the church, school, rectory, and other parish buildings
- Haul, move, and transport materials, equipment, and supplies as requested
- Collect and properly dispose of trash and garbage
- Maintain inventory of maintenance and cleaning supplies and assist with ordering as needed
- Provide general maintenance assistance and support to parish staff as requested
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training preferred
- Knowledge of minor building repair and light carpentry; janitorial experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
- Must pass diocesan background check and complete Safe Environment (VIRTUS) training
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to safely operate tools and equipment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate self-motivation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Pastor and parish staff
- Responsible for the proper use and care of maintenance equipment and supplies
