Duties
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, slicing, and measuring according to recipes and safety guidelines
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as chopping vegetables, portioning proteins, and assembling dishes
- Operate kitchen equipment safely, including mixers, slicers, ovens, and fryers
- Follow recipe instructions precisely to ensure consistency and quality in meal production
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment in compliance with food safety standards
- Support with meal assembly for catering events or daily service needs
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate prep activities and ensure timely service
Skills
- Prior experience in dietary departments or dietary aide roles is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of food handling, safety standards, and sanitation practices in a food industry setting
- Proficiency in food preparation techniques including slicing, dicing, and portioning using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and adhere to menu planning guidelines
- Experience operating various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork within a busy kitchen environment
- Knowledge of safety standards in food production and food safety management protocols
- Previous restaurant or catering experience is a plus for understanding service flow and customer expectations
