Duties
- Plan, organize, and execute a variety of recreational activities, including arts and crafts, games, outings, and themed events tailored to residents’ interests and abilities
- Coordinate resident events that promote socialization, cognitive engagement, and physical activity
- Assist with daily living activities (ADLs), ensuring residents’ comfort and safety during participation in programs
- Build strong rapport with residents through compassionate communication and personalized interactions
- Collaborate with team members to develop individualized activity plans that meet diverse needs, including memory care and dementia support
- Manage scheduling of activities and ensure timely preparation of materials and resources for each event
- Support residents in maintaining their independence by encouraging participation in community outings and recreational therapies
Experience
- Prior experience working with seniors in assisted living facilities or nursing homes is highly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, geriatrics, and memory support techniques
- Proven ability to develop engaging programs through event planning and recreational therapy methods
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs within a geriatric or community setting
- Strong communication skills for effective resident rapport building, client communication, and team collaboration
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, scheduling, and program development purposes
- Long-term care experience or home & community care background is advantageous
