Job Summary
The Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) provides rapid, person-centered behavioral health assessment, crisis intervention, and short-term stabilization services for individuals experiencing an acute mental health or substance use crisis. Working in a 23-Hour Crisis Receiving Center (CRC) licensed by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS), the LMHP conducts comprehensive clinical evaluations, determines medical necessity, and develops individualized crisis stabilization and safety plans.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing face-to-face crisis assessments at admission to determine appropriateness for 23-hour stabilization in accordance with DBHDS and Virginia Medicaid (DMAS) requirements.
- Completing or updating Comprehensive Needs Assessments or other DBHDS-approved assessments, and documenting all findings in the clinical record.
- Collaborating with psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, nurses, peer specialists, and other team members to deliver 24/7 crisis services, including care coordination, safety planning, and rapid linkage to ongoing treatment or community supports.
- Providing brief therapeutic interventions, de-escalation, and psychoeducation to individuals and families.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable state regulations, facility policies, and professional ethical standards, including timely documentation and reporting of risk factors.
The LMHP serves as a clinical leader within a multidisciplinary team, helping to divert individuals from unnecessary inpatient hospitalization, stabilize acute symptoms, and connect them to the least restrictive level of ongoing care.
Pay: $125.00 - $225.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
