Position Summary
The Masking/Prep Technician is responsible for preparing and masking customer parts in accordance with work instructions, customer specifications, and quality requirements prior to finishing operations. This position requires attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to consistently follow established procedures to ensure proper protection of designated areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review work instructions, travelers, drawings, and other applicable documentation to determine masking requirements.
- Inspect parts prior to masking and identify any visible defects, damage, or discrepancies.
- Prepare and mask designated areas of parts according to customer and process requirements.
- Remove masking materials and clean parts as required following processing.
- Inspect completed work to ensure masking and preparation requirements have been met.
- Identify and report quality concerns, damaged parts, incorrect documentation, or other discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor.
- Complete required production documentation and maintain proper part identification and traceability.
- Handle customer parts carefully to prevent damage or contamination.
- Follow all safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive work accurately.
- Ability to use basic hand tools and masking-related equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous manufacturing or masking experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to learn company procedures, quality requirements, and customer-specific requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for detailed and repetitive work.
- Ability to bend, reach, twist, and perform repetitive movements.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Visual acuity sufficient to inspect parts and perform detailed masking work, with or without corrective lenses.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
Work Environment
This position is performed in a manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and other conditions associated with metal finishing and production processes. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn as required.
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
